Somesh Diwate

Trainee

My name is Somesh Diwate, and I hold an M.Sc. in Biochemistry. I am currently working as a project intern at Khadilkar Lab, where my research focuses on understanding the effects of anticancer drugs on cancer using the Drosophila gut tumor model. Specifically, I explore how these drugs impact intestinal tissue homeostasis and unravel their molecular effects on metabolism and mitochondrial physiology.

My long-term goal is to pursue a Ph.D., where I can expand on this foundation and explore advanced therapeutic approaches. I am passionate about contributing to the development of innovative treatments in oncology through interdisciplinary research that integrates biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer therapeutics.

Beyond the lab, I enjoy staying active by participating in outdoor sports and relaxing with movies, which help me maintain a balanced and energized perspective.
