Dr. Rohan Khadilkar

Rohan hails from Nashik, a beautiful city nestled in the Sahyadris. Rohan did his schooling from Fravashi Academy followed by Junior College in R.H Sapat Junior College, Nashik and Bachelors in Biotechnology from P.V.P College, Pravaranagar. He completed his Masters in Biotechnology from Presidency College, Bangalore. He moved to Bangalore to take up a job in the Biotech Industry but life had different plans. He got fascinated by developmental biology and joined JNCASR - Prof. Maneesha S. Inamdar's Vascular Biology lab for his PhD. After his PhD, he moved to the west (read-best) coast of Canada - Vancouver (a gorgeous city in Beautiful British Columbia) and joined Prof. Guy Tanentzapf's lab for his postdoc. After his postdoctoral stint, he joined Tata Memorial Centre - ACTREC in March 2020 where he started the Stem Cell and Tissue Homeostasis lab. Rohan quite literally really fell in love with the Drosophila lymph gland in 2009 and continues to work on this organ along with understanding how stem cell and organ homeostasis is altered in disease versus developmental scenarios.

He is fond and passionate about Indian classical music particularly he is a GaayanaSaraswati Kishori Amonkar aficionado. He learns Hindustani Classical vocals, loves travelling and exploring new places, loves photography, is crazy about Bollywood movies and loves shaking a leg too at the drop of a hat.
